Thus, methods of information organization are of significant importance to ensure not only the retrieval of information, but also to promote the transposition of cultural and geographical borders of access to information. In this scenario, we highlight the Knowledge Organization Systems as tools that encompass all types of schemas that aim to promote knowledge management, such as classification schemes, subject headings, thesauri, ontologies, among others. In 2009, the World Wide Web Consortium presented the SKOS - Simple Knowledge Organization System as a model that has stood out in the standardization of information resources in the Web, as it provides a way to represent traditional Knowledge Organization Systems allowing them to be readable by machines. Considering the growing tendency to develop thesauri for use in digital environments, we highlight the Brazilian Thesaurus of Information Science, published in 2014 by the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology, as a fundamental tool to retrieve and access information with precision. Undoubtedly, its transposition to the Web represents yet another advance for the area of Librarianship and Information Science. Therefore, the present work is dedicated to the evaluation of the conversion of the category "Information and Strategic Knowledge in Organizations" of the Brazilian Thesaurus of Information Science in a microtesauro in SKOS. It is a theoretical and methodological research that proposes to approach the themes of representation, organization and availability of vocabularies in digital environments. It is also characterized as a research of an applied and exploratory nature since it aims to generate knowledge for practical application. The present study evidenced that the SKOS presents itself as a low cost option, favors greater interoperability between vocabularies from the integration of different datasets and has significant contribution to the improvement of traditional information retrieval tools.
