Abstratc The aim of this paper is first to read Waly Salomão’s Babilaques by referring to Sergei Eisenstein's theories of cinematism and of ecstasy, which he developed regarding cinema and other art forms. The babilaques consist of a series of photographs of notebooks in which handwriting, pictures and poetry come together under different effects of lighting and shading. Josefina Ludmer and Florencia Garramuño’s critiques are also referred to in my analysis. Secondly, I will examine two or three babilaques so that I may demonstrate how they put together different art forms. Finally, I will argue that the babilaques and the procedures utilized relate to our present, even though they are decades old.
