ABSTRACT This paper investigates the origins and the workings of an intercontinental trading network of books printed in colonial Bahia at the printing-house of Manoel Antonio da Silva Serva, the first Brazilian private press. The research identifies the Bahian books that reached Portugal, and who were the Portuguese booksellers who constituted the other end of the business.
