ABSTRACT This study aimed to evaluate the influence of heat treatment on soybean oil with some physical properties of Pinus sp wood, being evaluated the dimensional variation, density, warping and cracking in samples with 5 mm and 20 mm thicknesses. The samples were submitted to heat treatment at a temperature of 80 °C to 160 °C, for 20 and 40 minutes, with and without subsequent immersion in cold oil. Comparisons were made with control samples, to 12% moisture content. The results demonstrated that the factors of greater effect of the thermal treatment with soybean oil on the properties were: high-temperature heat treatment (160 °C); lower initial thickness (5 mm); longer treatment (40 minutes) and immersion in cold oil after the heat treatment. The effects of the heat treatment associated with immersion in cold oil resulted in lower shrinkage and warp and in the increase in density values.
