ABSTRACT This article analyses the perspectives open by digital history for the renewal of the historiographic production departing from the experience of UFRRJ’s Documentary and Image Center (CEDIM). It highlights the contribution of making available digital holdings for the collective self-esteem of Baixada Fluminense dwellers, overcoming stigmas traditionally associated to the region, as in the case of the documents of the Nova Iguaçu Metropolitan Curia, of great relevance for the study of local social movements. Finally, it analyses CEDIM as a locus of cooperation between historians and computer scientist, that originated UFRRJ’s Masters in Digital Humanities..
