abstract By mapping the scholarly production from the last fifteen years, this article seeks to understand how Brazilian literature, and, in particular contemporary Brazilian literature, is broached in this output. The essay examines a corpus of more than three thousand articles to identify some of the most common literary trends, which authors are frequently referenced, and which works are quoted the most. The essay aims to better understand academic scholarship and to pinpoint the mechanisms of legitimization in the field of Brazilian literature.
