ABSTRACT: This text examines the role of mothers as rural women less educated as support for their daughters to have access and permanence in higher education. The analysis is made from narratives produced in situations of semi-structured interviews with 17 young people who had access to different graduation courses on both campus of the University of the State of Bahia (Uneb). Are the data of those interviews that allow to understand how the mothers act for having, through education, opportunities different from those they had/have to experience in rural contexts. The review of the literature used in the research of comparative way permits to analyze the conditions faced by rural women of the generation of mothers and daughters and point the investment in education as a promising future for the women of today generation.
